Maradu Complex Protest: Flat owners' eviction may get delayed
The demolition of Maradu Flat complex might get delayed as the residents have claimed faultily in the arrangement of accommodations and demanded more time

Residents allege faultily in arranging accommodation
residents have alleged that numbers given to m for arranging accommodations do t exist. "We were shocked to be told when we contacted numbers given to us, that re are such flats to be given. Some of m even threatened us t to call again. If this is response, n October 3 deline will have to be extended," residents asserted. re are 240 families staying in 356 flats in four buildings across complex. apex court h ordered demolition of complex by September 20, for violating Coastal Regulation Zone rules.

Residents go on a Hunger Strike
residents of complex went on a protest and huger strike on September 29 against decision. y also demanded to meet with district collector to discuss issue. Speaking to media, an angry resident said " We have t received any eviction tice so far. Through media, we came to kw that eviction process will be completed within four days. We want m to issue a proper eviction tice with a maximum reasonable time for eviction." residents have also demanded reinstatement of electricity and water connection which according to residents was 'illegally' disconnected a few days ago.

GP visits Maru complex
ditional Director General of Police (GP) Tomin J Thachankary also visited Maru complex in Kochi on Sunday. Thachankary is also in charge of investigation team (SIT) who is probing alleged illegal appropriation of Government land and violation of Coastal Zone regulation rms by builder. Supreme Court has directed an interim compensation of Rs.25 Lakhs to flat owners to be paid within four weeks.
