On Monday, Bihar Police said four people were arrested in connection with alleged gang rape of a former Muzaffarpur shelter home inmate. Jayant Kant, SP Bettiah said, “Four people arrested in connection with alleged rape of a former Muzaffarpur shelter home inmate.” Earlier police h registered a case against four persons in connection with crime. As per reports, girl was a former inmate at NGO-run Muzaffarpur Shelter Home.
SP Kant's statement on case
SP Kant h said on Monday that, “This is a serious case. We have received information that she was an inmate at Muzaffarpur Shelter Home. We are taking every action based on evidence we have gared. Police teams have been constituted to investigate matter." Kant told reporters that girl was allegedly raped on Friday and police received a complaint on Saturday. initial medical test was conducted on same day on which complaint was received. He ded that police has received medical test report and that Forensic Science Laboratory team is conducting ir own examination.

According to FSL Assistant Director Ambalika Tripathi, re are external injuries on body of victim. Earlier, National Commission for Women (NCW) h taken suo moto cognizance over matter. NCW also issued a tice to Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) asking m to treat case on priority.

" Commission h taken Suo Motu cognizance of this matter and formed an enquiry committee to investigate case. Commission has issued a tice to DGP Bihar and asked him to treat this case on priority and hold speedy investigation followed by arrest of all accused," Commission said in a press te.

NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma said that a committee heed by her would travel to Bihar later this week on September 19-20 to meet victim, director-general of police, and possibly Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also.

About case
26-year-old woman on September 15 alleged that four men abducted and gang-raped her. After being mitted to local hospital in West Champaran district of Bihar, she recorded her statement ding that alleged rapists also threatened her. tably, survivor was staying in Muzaffarpur Shelter Home right before scandal broke in 2018. She h left her home last year in June and taken shelter in Muzaffarpur shelter home. However, after scandal, she sought refuge in Mokama shelter home for a short while. After that, her family members brought her back home in Bettiah town. She ded that Bihar government at that time h provided her compensation of Rs. 7 lakhs.
