No effect on IFFI of Goa prohibitory orders for Ayodhya verdict
A day after imposing prohibitory orders in the state ahead of the Ayodhya verdict, the Goa government on Friday clarified it would not affect film festival.

A day after imposing prohibitory orders in state ahe of Ayodhya verdict, Goa government on Friday clarified it would t affect upcoming International Film Festival of India (IFFI). IFFI will be held from vember 20-28 in Panaji.
Supreme Court is likely to deliver verdict in Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case in next few days. District Magistrate Vikash S N Gaunekar on Friday said that since IFFI is a government function, it would t be covered under prohibitory orders.

In an dendum issued on Friday, Gaunekar said se restrictions are t applicable to official events of Central and state governments, semi-government or automous bodies, educational institutions etc. Sports events, private weddings, birthday parties and or indoor private functions are also t banned under orders, r were tritional, religious and cultural events, it said.

Prohibitory orders were imposed on Thursday statewide to curb possibility of processions, protests by various groups after verdict, which was likely to disturb peace and tranquillity within district and bring about ecomic and cultural disturbances.
