NRC: Purported List of FAQs clears people's doubts on proof of citizenship

As nationwide protests have erupted against Citizenship (Amendment) Act and National Register of Citizens, a purported list of frequently asked questions with answers has emerged clarifying  doubts about NRC and CAA. It was first stated that process of NRC has t yet started in country. Furr, it was ded that Muslims or any or community in India will t be asked to prove anything explicitly, everyone would just be asked to show ir identity cards.  

Position on Muslims in NRC list

list clarified its position over Muslims and said that NRC for whole country h t been drafted yet and community will be asked to prove ir 'Indianness'. y said that everyone will have to produce usual documents that one needs to produce while making a Voter ID or Ahar card. list also clarifies that if person is t educated or possesses a relevant document, y can bring a witness with m or undergo a community verification system which will be formed by government.

list also clarified that NRC will t exclude any trans, aist, tribal, Dalit, women and landless people. y furr ded cutoff for NRC in or states will be different than Assam and t 1971 as Supreme Court's ruling for Assam was different depending on Assam Accord. FAQs also stated that birth details of individual will be eugh, and parents’ documents would t be necessary. In case where one cant prove ir DOB parents' certificates will be required.

Documents likely to be accepted 

decision on acceptable documents is pending. However, it was informed that it is likely to include voter card, passport, Ahaar, license, insurance paper, land or house papers or or similar documents issued by government officials. issued FAQs also ded that Civil Amendment Act under Citizenship Act 1955 does t prevent any citizen of any country from applying for Indian citizenship. Baloch, Ahmedia, Rohingya can apply for Indian citizenship at any time, provided y fulfil qualification related to Citizenship Act 1955.
