PM Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump exchange New Year greetings, discuss on strengthening India-US bilateral relations over phone

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump exchange New Year greetings in a telephonic conversation on Monday evening, as per news agency ANI. During their conversation, the two leaders expressed satisfaction at the progress in India-U.S. strategic partnership in 2018.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump exchange New Year greetings in a telephonic conversation on Monday evening, as per news agency ANI. During their conversation, the two leaders expressed satisfaction at the progress in India-U.S. strategic partnership in 2018.

Furthermore, PM Modi and US President Trump appreciated the developments such as the launch of the new 2+2 Dialogue mechanism and the first-ever Trilateral Summit of India, the U.S. and Japan.

In the telephone call, the two leaders took positive note of growing bilateral cooperation in defence, counter-terrorism and energy and coordination on regional and global issues. They also agreed to continue to work together for further strengthening India-U.S. bilateral relations in 2019, as reported by ANI.

Earlier on Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended an invitation to India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the Vladivostock Economic Forum in September 2019. The two leaders who have maintained a strategic partnership spoke over the phone on Monday and discussed boosting their joint trade and projects portfolio and engaging the Asia-Pacific region.

Russian President Putin wished PM Modi success in the upcoming parliamentary elections, Russian diplomatic sources said. PM Modi and Putin said they were dedicated to a multilateral approach to resolving important world issues, among them fighting global terrorism.
