Amid BJP-Sena fallout, ally JD(U) breaks silence on Maha Guv's decision
The JD(U) has issued its first response to the contentious decision of the Maharashtra Governor which resulted in President's rule being imposed in the state

On Wednesday, Janata Dal (United) spokesperson Pavan Varma slammed Maharashtra Goverr Bhagat Singh Koshyari for his “haste” in recommending imposition of President’s Rule in state. Varma contended that Goverr should have exhausted all possibilities of forming government before taking such a step. This was JD(U)’s first official reaction to political crisis in Maharashtra. Maintaining that Goverr was a constitutional authority who is supposed to act impartially keeping aside party politics, Varma opined that parties or than BJP were t given sufficient time to stake claim.

JD(U) spokesperson remarked, " Maharashtra Goverr has acted in haste. This happened because he is duty-bound to exhaust all political possibilities of forming government before he recommends President's rule.” He ded, " Goverr is a constitutional authority by definition and by intention of constitution. He or she acts as an impartial authority above party politics.”

President's Rule in Maharashtra
Despite BJP-Shiv Sena alliance securing a comfortable majority in Maharashtra Assembly elections, y could t form government owing to a dispute over Chief Minister’s post. After caretaker Chief Minister Devendra Fnavis and Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray tred barbs on vember 8, BJP refused to accept invite to form government. While Sena expressed its willingness for government formation, it requested 48 hours to garner letters of support from MLAs. This request was rejected by Goverr after which he invited NCP, third-largest party. On Tuesday, Shiv Sena challenged this order of Goverr Koshyari by filing a writ petition in Supreme Court. However, when NCP too asked for more time, Goverr recommended imposition of President's Rule in state. After Union Cabinet approved proposal, President issued an official proclamation in this regard.

JD(U)-BJP relationship
relationship of JD(U) with BJP has come under spotlight since latter openly criticised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his handling of flood situation in Patna. On October 30, JD(U) asked for proportionate representation in Union Cabinet. Initially, it h refused to join Central government in June. Recently, when asked for a comment on Shiv Sena leaving National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Kumar stated that it did t matter to JD(U).
