Bihar assembly passes unanimous resolution: NPR as per 2010 format, no NRC needed

all-party resolution got approval of legislative assembly in post-lunch session following a debate on journment motion moved by leer of opposition Tejashwi Yav and ors in House.

Speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhary re out resolution in presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi and opposition leers among ors to which all members approved by thumping of desks.
Besides saying to NRC, and conducting NPR strictly on 2010 pattern, resolution stated that "transs" be included in column of NPR.

Earlier, while replying to a debate on motion, Kumar h reiterated his opposition to "ditional clauses" having been inserted into NPR.
He told house that his government h written to Centre on February 15 in this regard.

official letter was send to Registrar-cum Census Commissioner by Principal Secretary of state revenue and land reform department.
Kumar said though re is an alliance, revenue and land reform department is heed by a minister hailing from BJP.

Such matters cant be decided if re was any disagreement, he ded.
Kumar told state assembly that re should be " confusion" regarding how NPR exercise would be carried out in state and that body would be asked to furnish information like place and date of birth of one's parents.

He said he himself does t kw date of birth of his mor, who died a few years ago.
How many people would be remembering birthday of ir mor and far, Kumar asked, ding during discussion many citizens say that ir parents were born eir before or after massive 1934 earthquake in state and regarding year many in rural areas would mention eir winter or summer season.

A strong opponent of National Register for Citizens despite his alliance with BJP, Kumar, however, disapproved of 'hauva' (bogey) of NRC being raised by opposition despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi's categorical statement that its countrywide implementation was t on anvil.
He said that CAA is a central act passed by Parliament which is currently pending with Supreme Court.
Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi asserted that re is confusion at all about NPR after chief minister me it clear that exercise in Bihar will be done on 2010 format.
He asserted that documents would be sought from anyone during NPR process.
Opposition should t confuse people on CAA, NRC and NPR, Modi ded.
He has alrey said that updating of NPR will be carried out in state from May 15-28.
Meanwhile, principal opposition RJD, claimed resolution was a result of party's struggle against contentious issues.
Giving his reaction over pass of resolution, Tejashwi Yav said, "We shook BJP, right from Delhi to Patna, which was t rey to budge an inch over issue of NRC/NPR. BJP just saw it happening...We will t allow CAA to be implemented in Bihar."
"It is outcome of our continuous struggle right from Parliament to streets that NDA government has to yield. Bihar, where is in BJP power, became first state to pass a resolution for t implementing NPR," he said.
His mor Rabri Devi also credited him for taking issue strongly within as well outside assembly with party workers which forced state government to bring a resolution in this regard.
