A day after meeting the Hathras gangrape victim's kin, ex-Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra escalated their attack on the UP government.

A day after meeting  family of Hathras gangrape victim, ex-Congress president Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vra escalated ir attack on UP government. Vra recalled kin telling her that Hathras District Magistrate h behaved in worst possible manner. Alleging that DM was being shielded, she called for his immediate dismissal and a detailed probe into his role. Earlier, Congress communications in-charge Randeep Surjewala h posted a video in which DM was purportedly seen issuing a veiled threat to family members on changing ir statement.

Moreover, she lamented that SIT investigation is still underway despite state government recommending a CBI probe. Urging Yogi ityanath-led government to wake up from slumber, Congress general secretary opined that demands of victim's family should be taken into consideration. According to her, kin sought a judicial inquiry into case. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi claimed that UP CM and DM h threatened family of Hathras victim. dressing Kheti Bachao Yatra in Moga, Wayan MP lamented that action h been taken against criminals while her family members were locked up in ir house.

Hathras gangrape case

A 19-year-old woman in a vill in UP's Hathras district was reported to have been brutally gangraped by 4 men when she was collecting fodder for her cattle on September 14. victim, who was initially mitted to a local hospital in Hathras was shifted for furr treatment to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital. She succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday, September 29. Four persons have been arrested by police in this case.

Amid huge protests outside hospital demanding justice for deceased woman, her body was brought to vill by police at around 1 am on Wednesday. In an official statement, Hathras Police refuted reports that body was forcefully cremated in de of night without conducting final rites. However, victim's family claimed that its request for body to be taken to house and carrying out cremation after sunrise was turned down by police. police has w cited autopsy report to claim that re was rape in incident.
