In a major development ahe of assembly elections in Maharashtra, NCP leer and Shar Pawar's nephew Ajit Pawar on Friday has resigned as Baramati MLA from Maha assembly. Maharashtra legislative assembly Speaker Haribhau Bagde has accepted his resignation. tably, his resignation has come days after he and Shar Pawar along with ors were named by ED in its ECIR (equivalent to FIR) in a money laundering case in connection with Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank scam.
ED h filed ECIR against NCP leers under Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Furrmore, ED's decision to file ECIR in scam came after Bombay High Court ordered Mumbai Police’s EOW (Ecomic Offences Wing) to file an FIR against Shar Pawar, his nephew, and 75 ors in alleged Rs 25,000-crore scam.

Shar Pawar cancels visit to ED office
Even as he was t issued summon, NCP chief Shar Pawar was going to visit ED office for questioning in case on Friday. However, after Mumbai Police asked him to postpone his visit due to security concern, Shar Pawar dressed media and anunced that he has dropped his decision to visit ED office. He cited law and order situation in city for his decision. As NCP leers led protests outside ED office after FIR was registered, Mumbai Police h imposed Section 144 in South Mumbai ahe of NCP leer's visit to ED office.

Maharashtra assembly elections
Troubles for NCP leers Shar Pawar and Ajit Pawar have come weeks ahe of elections for 288-member Maharashtra assembly. Shar Pawar h anunced seat-sharing arrangement between his party and Congress party in Maharashtra polls. Pawar h tweeted to say that both NCP and Congress will contest 125 seats each in Maharashtra Assembly polls. He also said that remaining 38 seats will be given to smaller allies across state. Elections in state will be held on October 21, along with Haryana in a single phase, whereas counting of votes will take place on October 24 for both states.
