NCP trashes reports of 12 MLAs jumping ship, claims 'ex-members in BJP eager to return'

Amid speculation that 12 NCP MLAs are likely to join BJP by August-end, Maharashtra Minister and NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik on Monday issued a strong denial.

Amid speculation that 12 NCP MLAs are likely to join BJP by August-end, Maharashtra Minister and NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik on Monday issued a strong denial. Earlier in day, sources hinted that 12 legislators hailing from Western Maharashtra are in touch with BJP's central leership. Reportedly unhappy with functioning of Maha Vikas Aghi government, se MLAs also allegedly backed Ajit Pawar to form government with BJP on vember 23, 2019. 

In fact, Malik claimed that NCP MLAs who h joined BJP before 2019 Assembly polls were er to return to party fold. Stressing that decision h been taken on re-inducting se legislators, NCP spokesperson assured that a call will be taken in this regard soon. On multiple occasions, Maharashtra BJP has denied poaching attempts and predicted that Sena-NCP-Congress government shall collapse under weight of its own contrictions.

Writing on Twitter, Nawab Malik remarked, "Some people are spreing rumour that 12 NCP MLAs are joining BJP. This is baseless and contrived news. On contrary, NCP MLAs who joined BJP before election are er to come back. But decision has been taken so far. A decision will be taken soon and information pertaining to this will be me public."

Fnavis rules out alliance with Sena

Amid Maharashtra BJP president's willingness to tie-up with Shiv Sena once again, Leer of Opposition and former CM Devendra Fnavis issued a clarification recently. State BJP chief Chandrakant Patil did t rule out a tie-up with Sena, while maintaining that latter will have to give up support of NCP and Congress before  end of MVA government's 5-year tenure. According to Fnavis, BJP would contest next Assembly polls alone.

He said that neir BJP r Shiv Sena h sent an alliance proposal to each or. BJP leer reiterated that such proposal is under consideration. Speaking to Republic TV, Patil h mentioned that  final call regarding possibility of an alliance with Sena shall be taken by BJP's central leership. BJP and former ally Sena h a bitter fallout after 2019 Assembly election owing to latter's demand for rotational CM.
