Thackeray offered prayers at makeshift Ram Lalla temple along with his son itya and 18 newly-elected lawmakers of his party. Shiv Sena has said visit was to fulfil promise Thackeray me last vember to come to Ayodhya again after elections.

Maharashtra will be going to polls later this year and visit is being seen as an attempt by Shiv Sena to put pressure on ally BJP on Ram temple issue. But Sena has maintained that Thackeray's visit should t be seen through electoral lens.
