Rahul Gandhi-led delegation to submit 2 crore signatures against Farm Laws to President

On Thursday, a delegation of Congress leaders led by Rahul Gandhi will submit around 2 crore signatures urging the repeal of the farm laws to President Kovind.

On Thursday, a delegation of Congress leers led by Wayan MP Rahul Gandhi will submit around two crore signatures urging repeal of farm laws to President Ram Nath Kovind. y shall urge intervention of President for annulling Farmers' Produce Tre and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020. Observing that this legislation has caused immense anguish, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal mentioned that 44 farmers h alrey lost ir lives during ongoing protests. 

In a statement, Venugopal claimed that Centre h "duped" farmers' unions by putting on a conciliatory face. Maintaining that Union government was only committed to welfare of corporates, he alleged that public money was being used to create false propaganda in favour of agrarian laws and discredit protesting farmers. Moreover, he accused Centre of insulting farmers and undemocratically suspending opposition parliamentarians. Nearly two weeks ago, a 5-member delegation of opposition leers comprising Congress' Rahul Gandhi, NCP supremo Shar Pawar, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, CPI general secretary D Raja and DMK leer TKS Elangovan met President seeking revocation of farm laws.

Farmers' unions harden stance 

Earlier in day, farmers' unions revealed that a decision on Centre's invite for talks will be taken in a meeting on Wednesday. Moreover, y anunced that y will write to British MPs to stop UK PM Boris Johnson from attending Republic Day celebrations. Johnson has accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation for being Chief Guest for Republic Day in 2021.

dressing media, farmer leer Kulwant Singh Sandhu asserted that UK PM should t come to India until demands of protesters are fulfilled. Calling for exerting pressure on Johnson, Sandhu urged people of Punjabi origin to protest in front of all embassies across world. So far, farmers have refused to budge from ir demand for repeal of three agrarian laws.
