Gandhi is in Punjab for leing tractor rallies, from October 4 to October 6, across state in protest against recently enacted agriculture laws by Centre.

“You (Rahul Gandhi) did t only run away from country when agriculture bills were to be tabled in Parliament in most cowardly manner, but also facilitated ir pass by refusing to issue a whip to your MPs to vote against m and even preventing senior leers from speaking against bills in House,” senior S leer Prem Singh Chandumajra said.

“But you chose to help BJP government rar than standing with farmers of country,” he alleged. Chandumajra, in a statement here, said Congress leer h w been brought to Punjab to st a “sham protest” after party realised that farmers would w turn against it.

Questioning timing of Gandhi’s visit, S leer said it was strange that Gandhi scion remembered Punjab and its farmers after a spate of years only because his party was in doldrums with only a little over a year left before assembly polls.

“You seem to be in habit of remembering farmers only when a particular state goes to polls, as happened during your pre-poll visit to Mhya Presh. You never visited Punjab when hundreds of farmers committed suicide after your government refused to waive ir agricultural loans,” he said.

Chandumajra also asked Gandhi to direct Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to fulfil poll promises me during 2017 assembly polls.
