Smriti Irani hails Centre's decision to amend Essential Commodities Act
Union Minister Smriti Irani expressed her joy over the Central government's decision and said it will pave way for 'One Nation, One Agri Market.'

A day after Union cabinet approved amendment to Essential Commodities Act, Union Minister Smriti Irani expressed her joy over Central government's decision and said it will pave way for 'One Nation, One Agri Market.' Irani also congratulated farmers.
"First time in history, farmers can sell ir produce in any state, at a price y deem fit. After One Nation, One Tax and One Nation, One Ration Card, this realises dream of 'One Market' for our farmers. I congratulate all farmers, especially from Punjab", Minister said while speaking to ANI.

Cabinet Approves Reforms In Essential Commodities Act
Union Information and Brocasting Minister Prakash Javekar on Wednesday anunced an important decision taken by Union Cabinet pertaining to agriculture and or sectors. Javekar declared that amendment h been me in Essential Commodities Act, 1955, to ensure that farmers get a good price on many commodities. Items such as food grains, oil, dal, pulses, potato have been removed from purview of this Act.

He furr said that Union government would introduce an ordinance to free farmers from constraints of Agriculture Produce Market Committee whereby farmers would be able to sell ir produce anywhere. Javekar also mentioned that Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Ordinance h been approved. This would ensure that farmers get greater freedom to eng with processors, wholesalers, large retailers, exporters while protecting ir interests.
