UP CM Yogi implores Delhi CM Kejriwal to clean Yamuna like Ganga; make fit for 'sipping'

Uttar Presh Chief Minister Yogi ityanath on Sunday called upon CM Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government to take some initiative to clean Yamuna river on lines of Centre's Namami Gange campaign to clean Ganga. He also expressed his commitment to making Yamuna river pollution-free if AAP government ensures its cleanliness under its area.
'Delhi govt should at least take some initiative'
"If Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government ensures clean Yamuna, holy river will be me pollution-free in our state to such an extent that besides bathing, one could freely perform 'Achamanam' (sipping water) in its waters," he said, referring to religious ritual of 'Achamanam'.

ityanath was dressing a garing in Kumbh Mela area in Vrindavan. As per trition, saints will w proceed to Haridwar Kumbh, a UP government statement said after Chief Minister's day-long visit to Mathura.
" Delhi government should at least take some initiative. Centre's Jal Shakti Department can take care of it later," he said.

"How we cleaned river Ganga was watched by entire world during glorious Prayagraj Kumbh. cleanliness of river Ganga and efficiency with which it was achieved came in for huge praise from international organisations like UNESCO, said ityanath. He asserted that Yamuna would be cleaned like way river Ganga was me pollution-free in Kanpur.

"Under Namami Gange' program, heavy discharge of wastewater into Ganga has t only been stopped, but river has also w regained its original shape," he claimed. Chief Minister appreciated grand arrangements done for Kumbh Mela.

Talking about development of Mathura, CM said, "It is our responsibility to give a new face to Braj Bhoomi, land of Krishna Leela and set a new example to world in terms of its development." Yogi ityanath also laid foundation stones for various development projects worth Rs 411 crore in Mathura, Government said in statement. CM also went to Banke Bihari temple to pay obeisance, met saints and attended meeting of Braj Teerth Vikas Parish.
