In a series of tweets, Congress General Secretary in-charge of UP, Priyanka Gandhi, said, "I was on phone with Hathras victim's far when he was informed that his daughter h passed away. I heard him cry out in despair." "He h just been telling me that all he wanted was justice for his child. Last night victim's far was robbed of chance to take his daughter home for last time and perform her last rites," she said.

Tagging ityanath in a tweet, Priyanka Gandhi said, "RESIGN. Inste of protecting victim and her family, your government became complicit in depriving her of every single human right, even in death. You have moral right to continue as chief minister." In ar tweet in Hindi, she alleged that at 2:30 am on Wednesday "victim's kin kept requesting", but Uttar Presh ministration "forcibly" cremated woman.

On September 14, young woman h gone to fields with her mor and went missing soon after. She was found later, beaten and tortured, her tongue cut as she bit it when accused attempted to strangle her.
