President Ram Nath Kovind: 'Guru Nanak Dev's life inspires us'
President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday wished everyone across the country on Guru Nanak Dev's 550th birth anniversary and also addressed a gathering in Punjab

On the occasion of the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, President Ram Nath Kovind offered prayers and attended the celebrations at Sultanpur Lodhi region of Punjab. During his address on the occasion, the President also emphasised on the contributions made by the founder of Sikhism for the welfare of the society.
The President of India also took to Twitter to convey his greetings on the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
While addressing a gathering on the occasion, the President conveyed his greetings to the people of India and the Indians living abroad on the auspicious occasion. According to a statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Ram Nath Kovind also expressed that he feels privileged to be in Sultanpur Lodhi, the place where Guru Nanak Dev attained enlightenment.
'Guru Nanak Dev Ji took efforts to educate people about equality and brotherhood'- President Kovind
In his address to the people, Kovind spoke about the efforts made by Guru Nanak Dev to free people from the clutches of casteism and ritualism, by educating them about equality, brotherhood, kindness and morality. The President also spoke of how true followers of Guru Nanak Dev would work for the welfare of all, live in harmony and do their job with diligence and honesty.
"It is the result of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's diligence-based spiritual teachings that his followers are known all over the world for their success. By following the teachings of great Gurus, we can contribute to making our country and the world better," the President was quoted as saying.
The President also offered prayers at the historic Gurdwara Ber Sahib. The 550th Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is being celebrated with great joy across India and in multiple parts of the world.
