Union Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Chaudhary on Sunday stressed upon promoting organic farming, saying this will increase income of farmers.

It would be good for consumers as well, the minister added. The Centre's traditional farming improvement programme is there to support and promote agriculture in the country, which can be good for health and beneficial for farmers, Chaudhary said. He also said the government was encouraging farmers for adopting eco-friendly cultivation in order to reduce dependence on fertilizers and chemicals.

Talking to reporters after attending a party meeting, Chaudhary said his ministry was working with an aim to double farmers' income by 2022. He also said that the 'parali', which causes pollution after it is burnt, would become the source of income for farmers in future.
