protracted hearing in politically sensitive Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute at Ayodhya will enter into crucial final leg on October 14 when Supreme Court resumes proceedings on 38th day after week-long Dussehra break.

A five-judge Constitution bench heed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, which started day-to-day proceedings on August 6 after mediation proceedings failed to find an amicable solution to vexatious dispute, has revised deline for wrapping up proceedings and has fixed it on October 17.

Fourteen appeals have been filed in apex court against 2010 Allahab High Court judgment, delivered in four civil suits, that 2.77-acre land in Ayodhya be partitioned equally among three parties -- Sunni Waqf Board, Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla.

Initially, as many as five lawsuits were filed in lower court. first one was filed by Gopal Singh Vishar, a devotee of 'Ram Lalla', in 1950 to seek enforcement of right to worship of Hindus at disputed site.

In same year, Paramahansa Ramachandra Das h also filed lawsuit for continuation of worship and keeping idols under central dome of w-demolished disputed structure.

plea was later withdrawn. Later, Nirmohi Akahara also moved trial court in 1959 seeking manment and 'shebaiti' (devotee) rights over 2.77 acre disputed land. 

n came lawsuit of Uttar Presh Sunni Central Wakf Board which moved court in 1961, claiming title right over disputed property.

deity, 'Ram Lalla Virajman' through next friend and former Allahab High Court judge Deoki Nandan Agrawal, and Janambhoomi ( birthplace) moved lawsuit in 1989, seeking title right over entire disputed property on key ground that land itself has character of deity and of a 'Juristic entity'.

Later, all lawsuits were transferred to Allahab High Court for judication following demolition of disputed Ram Janambhoomi-Babri masjid structure on December 6, 1992, sparking communal riots in country.

Earlier, bench, also comprising justices S A Bobde, D Y Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and S A Nazeer, h said it would wrap up hearing by October 17, a day sooner than earlier schedule.

Fixing schedule for final leg of lengthy arguments, it h said that Muslim side would complete arguments on October 14 and reafter, two days would be granted to Hindu parties to sum up ir rejoinders by October 16.

October 17 would be last day for wrapping up hearing when parties will have to make final arguments about relief y are seeking, court h said. bench h earlier fixed deline of October 18 to conclude hearing.
