Rajnath Singh visits venue where Kim Jong-un, Moon Jae-in met

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday visited the demilitarised zone where North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met South Korean President Moon Jae-in in April.

On last day of his trip to South Korea, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday visited demilitarised zone where rth Korean leer Kim Jong-un met South Korean President Moon Jae-in in April last year, ending deces-long hostilities between two neighbours.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has held talks with his South Korean counterpart Jeong Kyeongdoo to boost bilateral defence ties, particularly in enhancing cooperation between defence firms of two countries and extending logistical support to each or's navies.

During wide-ranging talks, held on Thursday in Seoul, two leers comprehensively reviewed bilateral defence cooperation, a Defence Ministry statement said. Two major agreements to furr defence educational exchanges and extend logistical support to each or's navies were signed, it said.

'Bridge that connects South Korea with rth Korea'

"Visited historic site where South Korean President Moon Jae-in and rth Korean leer Kim Jong Un attended tree planting ceremony during inter-Korean summit at Panmunjom on April 27, 2018," Singh said in a tweet.

Kim met Moon in April last Panmunjom vill in a historic summit, brightening prospect of peace and stability in Korean peninsula. He also visited demilitarised zone which lies between South Korea and rth Korea.

"As we approach first anniversary of Pyongyang Declaration, it is time for us to reiterate our commitment to path of peace," he said. Rajnath Singh also visited 'Dobodari' bridge that connects South Korea with rth Korea. He said India always supported all efforts to bring about peace and stability on Korean Peninsula and its denuclearisation through dialogue and diplomacy.

"Delighted to visit Joint Security Area (JSA) at Panmunjom in South Korea. India h played a crucial role in Korean War," he ded. Rajnath Singh said summit talks between US and rth Korea as well as between rth Korea and South Korea have been positive developments to bring peace in region.
