'Working to provide swift assistance': MEA on India's efforts to uphold SAARC agreement
Nearly 8,000 people have died due to Coronavirus. The virus has infected around 2,07,000 people and has spread to more than 100 countries around the world.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday, said that government has started working on coordinated efforts that were called for during SAARC conference. MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar stated that steps h alrey been taken to follow up on agreed proposals and were alrey attempting to meet specific requirements meted to India by member nations.

SAARC proposals being followed
"We are moving very fast on most of proposals and anuncements. emergency fund is alrey up and running and we have received many requests from or SAARC countries for assistance in form of masks, shoe covers, gloves, disinfectants, and or items," he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on March 15, dressed a SAARC video conference to share each or efforts and issues as seven countries battle pandemic. video conference was led by PM Modi and was attended by Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani, Maldives President Ibrahim Solih, Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Banglesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bhutan Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering, Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's assistant - Dr Zafar Mirza. PM Modi highlighted SAARC's ancient ties and said that 'we must work and succeed toger'.

Nearly 170 confirmed cases of virus have been reported in India with four reported deaths.
Multiple states across country have taken up measures to contain spre of virus, including shutting down schools, universities, malls and or places where a large number of people can gar. Firms have also implemented work from home so as to t expose employees to virus.
