Terming alliance among Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress as opportunistic, senior BJP leer and Union minister Nitin Gkari on Friday said even if y formed government in Maharashtra, it will t last beyond six to eight months. In an interview to PTI during electioneering in Jharkhand, he said alliance forged by se "ideologically different" parties was just to keep BJP out of power, which was unfortunate. state is going to five-phased polls from vember 30.

"Opportunism is base of ir alliance. three parties have become united with only motto to keep BJP out of power. I have doubts wher this government will be formed... Even if it is formed, it will t last beyond six to eight months, Gkari told PTI. Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP are discussing modalities for forming government in Maharashtra. A long-time ally, Shiv Sena parted ways with BJP after state poll results amid differences over chief ministership.

Asked if BJP will try forming government in case alliance breaks, minister said in case of such circumstances, party will decide its future course of strategy. Anything can happen in cricket and politics, he quipped ding that it was beyond his comprehension why three parties will forge an alliance to form government despite huge ideological differences.

'We did our efforts'

On what transpired in meeting between NCP chief Shar Pawar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gkari said he was t aware of details. Congress Working Committee on Thursday granted in-principle approval to party to form government in Maharashtra along with NCP and Shiv Sena, sources h said.
