Sidhu's ultimatum letter to MEA: Respond or I'll go to Pak as pilgrim

Reminding Ministry of External affairs of his impending permission to visit Kartarpur on vember 9, Punjab MLA Navjot Singh Sidhu written to EAM Dr. S Jaishankar on Thursday stating if t answered to, he will go to Pakistan as a 'devotee'. He claimed that delay in response was hindering his future course of action. He ded that if government h any inhibitions he will t go to opening ceremony of Kartarpur Corridor.

" delay and response is a hindrance to my future course of action," he wrote. Continuing, he ded, "If govt has any inhibitions and say , n I, as a law-abiding citizen will t go. But if you don't respond to my third letter, n I will proceed to Pakistan as millions of Sikh devotees go on eligible Visa." Meanwhile, MEA spokesperson stated that ' inauguration of Kartarpur Corridor is a historic event. It is t important to highlight any one individual', when asked about Sidhu at weekly briefing.

Sidhu writes to EAM
Earlier on Wednesday, after being extended an official invitation from Pakistan government to attend inauguration ceremony of Kartarpur Corridor, Sidhu h yet again written to External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar requesting permission to attend inaugural ceremony. Stating that program is 'crystal clear' he has asked permission to cross over border at 9:30 AM on 9 vember, prior to ceremony. He stated that he wished to meditate at Gurudwara prior to ceremony.
He ded that if that was t possible, he would want to travel to Pakistan through Wagah border on 8 vember and stay overnight at Gurudwara Darbar Sahib. He also informed Ministry that he currently did t hold a visa for Pakistan. Punjab MLA h earlier written to EAM seeking permission for same. He h earlier informally accepted invite for ceremony, last week.

Kartapur Corridor agreement signed
Meanwhile, on October 24, India and Pakistan signed a landmark agreement to operationalise historic Kartarpur Corridor to allow Indian Sikh pilgrims to visit holy Darbar Sahib in Pakistan. corridor will be opened by Pakistan on vember 9. Both countries have also decided that corridor will be operational throughout year and seven days a week and that pilgrims will have a choice to visit it as individuals or in groups. Pakistan has finally waived $ 20 service fee per pilgrim on Friday, after facing severe criticism for t doing so. But, Pakistan is yet to approve complete list of pilgrims to visit Kartarpur on vember 9.
