Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked officials on Thursday to take COVID-19 as a challenge and intensify the fight against it.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked officials on Thursday to take COVID-19 as a challenge and intensify the fight against it.
He also directed them to improve the health facilities in Kanpur, Varanasi, Jhansi, Gorakhpur and Prayagraj and send a team of experts from the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) and King George's Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow to Kanpur for guidance.

Addressing a routine review at his official residence here, the chief minister said, "Take COVID-19 as a challenge and intensify the fight against it. We should be proactive in dealing with it." He directed the additional chief secretaries of the medical education and health departments to inspect hospitals and provide a report on availability of beds.
Stressing on contact-tracing and surveillance of COVID-19 patients, Adityanath said a door-to-door survey should be initiated in the entire state and medical tests of all persons residing in a containment zone should be done. He also reiterated the need to increase the number of beds and ventilators in hospitals and testing facilities.
