Addressing a special session of Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath castigated opposition for boycotting session. It was convened specially to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. marathon session will continue for 36 hours. ways and means to achieve sustainable development goals as decided by United Nations will be topmost nda for members of Assembly.

‘Surprised at Congress decision’
CM Adityanath has observed that opposition had shown disrespect t just towards Gandhi, but also common man of State. He alleged that Congress remained in power in name of Mahatma. Chief Minister furr claimed that ir politics was t in national interest.

He said, " opposition has shown disrespect t only to Mahatma Gandhi but also to common people of this state because discussion on sustainable goals would have worked to favour of poor. I am most surprised at Congress's decision to boycott session since this party claims to be Gandhi's legacy. y have remained in power in name of Gandhi and w y are boycotting a session dedicated to Gandhi which is shameful."
Adityanath furr added, “We talk of peace and y talk of terrorism; we talk of self-reliance and y talk of power in limited hands. ir politics is t in national interest but in interest of a few and y are concerned about vote bank politics.”

Speaker slams opposition
UP CM mentioned that comprehensive discussion would help government evolve a policy that would benefit needy. He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign had already delivered goods in State. He also cited fall in encephalitis deaths in eastern part of UP to prove his point. Moreover, UP Assembly Speaker Hriday Narayan Dixit also criticised opposition for backing out of session.
Dixit opined, “ opposition has gone back on ir signed consent in biggest state legislature in country which is t a healthy sign. opposition should realise that issues like Gandhi and development are above party politics.”
