Uttar Pradesh mandates govt hospital names to be written in Urdu along with Hindi

Yogi ityanath-led government in Uttar Presh has directed that names of all government hospitals in state be written in Urdu along with Hindi. Medical and Health Department of Uttar Presh in its order dated September 1, has directed Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of all districts to write names of government hospitals of state in Hindi as well as in Urdu langu.
Accordingly, names of all district hospitals and buildings of Community Health Centres (CHC) and Primary Health Centers(PHC) will be written in Urdu besides Hindi. In dition to this, instructions to write names and designations of doctors and employees in Hindi as well as in Urdu are also given. tably, government issued this directive in response to Mohammed Harun of Unnao, who according to media reports, claimed that several government ncies were omitting Urdu from ir name boards despite it being second official langu of state.

It is pertinent to mention that on October 7, 1989, a tification was issued by government of UP to give Urdu status of second official langu and a mandate was issued on vember 19, 1990. Accordingly, instructions have also been issued from time to time to follow it.
