WATCH | Congress launches 'Dussehra' attack, pitting PM Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi against each other

A day after BJP took on Congress for allegedly maligning Hindus, Congress has stirred a fresh controversy. On the day of Dussehra, the Congress has tweeted a ‘good vs evil’ video. Attacking the BJP, the Congress video has portrayed PM Narendra Modi, BJP national president Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath as the evil ones and Congress President Rahul Gandhi as the good one.

Shared on Congress’ official Twitter handle, the video has been captioned as, “Har yug mein parajay mili burai ko, laga hai acchai ka jaykaara. Nafrat, jhuth, hinsa ko karke parast, khushhaal hoga Hindustan humara,” which roughly translated to “In every era, evil has been defeated by the good. Our country will prosper after defeating hate, lies and violence”.

The video begins with a template pitting PM Modi, Amit Shah and Yogi Adityanath against Rahul Gandhi. The text layover on the picture reads “Always remember that good always triumphs over the evil.” The next slide reads ‘Evil divides but unity will defeat it’. The next slide is a clip of PM Modi (portrayed as evil) plays, wherein he can be seen saying, “If a kabristan can be built in a village, then a shamshan should also be built. If electricity is provided during Ramzan, then it should also be provided during Diwali.”

The counter-clip of the PM Modi byte is a byte of Gandhi (portrayed as the good one). The byte has Rahul Gandhi saying, “This is our thinking that in our country we have a place for everyone, for every person.”

The next slide features Amit Shah and Rahul Gandhi portrayed as bad and good respectively, with a text layover that reads, “Evil spreads lies but truth will block it”.

In the video, Shah (portrayed as the bad one) can be seen saying, “We will take every message to the people. whether it is true or false, sweet or sour,” as opposed to which, Rahul Gandhi (portrayed as the good one) can be seen saying, “Just show me one speech, where I made fake promises. We promised you, your debts will be forgiven, and they were forgiven. We promised you MNREGA will be implemented in the country and it did, we told you that farmers in Bhatta Parsaul will win their fight, laws would be made, and laws were made.”

Next slide features Yogi Adityanath as ‘evil, who spreads hate’ and Rahul Gandhi as ‘love’ who will eliminate that. The corresponding clip has Yogi Adityanath saying, “We have decided on that. If they elope with one Hindu girl, then at least 100 Muslims girls will be taken by Hindus,” and Rahul Gandhi saying, “The hatred you have for me, the anger you have for me but i do not have any anger, or hatred against you. I am Congress and all of them are Congress and Congress has made this country on emotions, never forget this.”

Vijayadashami which marks the end of Durga Puja is widely celebrated in northern India with the burning of  effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran and Meghnad awith fireworks marking the destruction of evil. The festival of Vijayadashmi is believed to be the celebration of triumph of good over evil.
