The BJP and Congress have made no qualms about hiding their political animosity, which has now even entered the social media arena, mainly Instagram as both parties take a jibe at each other. While the Congress can be seen attacking PM Modi, the BJP slams Rahul Gandhi with trendy Bollywood posters and sarcastic taglines, parodies, etc., in a bid to associate with the young generation.
But taking it a step further, the BJP has now started linking its Instagram posts on Gandhi with a current social media trend - the ‘Moye-Moye’ trend, wherein Rahul Gandhi’s moments end up synching with the Serbian song creating the ‘Moye-Moye’ moment.

What exactly is the trend?

A typical ‘Moye Moye’ short video as you may have already checked out highlights what earlier used to be called an ‘oops moment’.
For example, suppose you are doing an Instagram live and while you are talking to the other person, who you think is on the same page as you you hope he will nod in your favour on whatever topic you have taken up on the live, but instead your ‘friend’ ends up countering you.

Now that’s a moment completely apt to add the Serbian ‘Moje More’ song making it a ‘Moye Moye moment.’
About the Moye Moye song…

Ironically with the above context, it may feel at first look that the ‘Moje More’ song is funny, whereas, it’s just the opposite. Originally, the sound comes from the chorus of Serbian singer Teya Dora’s 2023 song ‘Džanum’ (a repetition of the words “moje more”).
In Serbian, the term ‘moje more’ means ‘my nightmares’. Dora’s nearly 3-minute-long song is a portrayal of a person who is at his lowest emotionally - with lyrics that aim to convey despair and misery. That the chorus consists of her repeating “my nightmares” is enough to understand the thrust of the song.
Hello there, anyone familiar with dark humour here?
The ones familiar with dark humour, aware of how many in India use the song ‘ye kya hua, kaise hua’ in juxtaposition with a tragi-comic situation will easily know how to work a moye moye moment out.
Just like ‘Mera toh itna life kharab ho gaya’ moment from Kangana Ranaut’s movie ‘Queen’. Some have even stretched the trend to making reels showing two people talking and suddenly one person realizes in a not compassionate but insensitive-awkward way that the other person doesn’t have a leg or an arm.
Like in the movie ‘Sholay’ when Jai and Veeru taunt Thakur as to why is he not picking up the rifle himself, and suddenly his shawl flies away showing his armless shoulders, thus shutting up Jai and Veeru instantly. Now that’s a perfect ‘Moye-Moye’ moment!
While many in different parts of the world are using the Serbian song of utmost despair comically, the artist who gave this trendy piece of music has expressed her gratitude on Instagram threads over the song’s popularity and said, “Thank you for appreciating the music. It’s wonderful to see Serbian music spreading all over the world. Every day, I receive love from all across the world. I love you.”
Most of the viral comedy reels featuring this song veer towards dark humour. Even if people halfway across the globe don’t know what the song means, they have repurposed it in comedy to great effect.
The lyrics have gone viral on the short video platforms namely Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
On November 24, even Delhi Police, which routinely uses pop culture references to spread public awareness, used a ‘Moye Moye’ video meme to talk about road safety on X.
Other songs that went viral and how!
Going viral on short-video platforms like TikTok, Instagram reels, and YouTube Shorts means unprecedented popularity for a song, or rather, the few seconds of the song that capture the public imagination on these platforms.
Songs like ‘Kolaveri’, ‘Ketchup’ song or 'Macarena,’ What’s your colour’ are some of the other songs that have made it to the list of trendy social media songs, parallel with their respective eras.
