Bihar govt bans 'Bali Pratha' at Kali temple, BJP poses tough question for Nitish Kumar
Giriraj Singh questioned the Nitish Kumar government for the decision underscoring the ritual which has been followed for generations in Sanatan Dharma.

Bihar government, on December 19, anunced a ban on animal sacrifice at a temple in Dharbhanga, triggering a political slugfest in state. ban was ordered by Bihar State Religious Trust Board (BSRTB) for at Shyama Mai temple where animal sacrifice is a ritual.
Needless to say, this decision faced sharp criticism from BJP. Giriraj Singh, MP from Begusarai, questioned Nitish Kumar government for decision underscoring ritual which has been followed for generations in Sanatan Dharma.

Shyama Mai temple was constructed in 1933 and it stands on funeral pyre of Maharaj Rameshwar Singh, who was a devotee of Goddess Kali. As an hour for Rameshwar Singh's faith, temple was constructed by his son Kameshwar Singh.
Upset over appeasement politics, Singh also questioned if Nitish would ban practice on Bakrid.

"Sanatana Dharma has 'Bali Pratha' (animal sacrifice) since s. y banned 'Bali Pratha' at Shyama Mandir. I want to ask m, can y ban it on Bakrid?" Rural Development Minister questioned.
Furrmore, Singh also requested Hindus to only eat Jhatka meat inste of Halal.

"I have said that I respect my Muslim brors. y are so committed to ir religion that y only consume Halal meat. To protect and respect your religion, I request my Hindu brors to stop consuming Halal meat and inste only consume Jhatka meat," he said while speaking to ANI.
A few weeks ago, MP also wrote a letter to Bihar CM to ban sale of food products labelled as "halal", drawing inspiration from Uttar Presh government.

In his Begusarai constituency, Singh also me his supporters take pledge that y will henceforth t spoil ir 'dharma' by eating Halal meat.
