Astromers have sighted fastest ever star in Milky Way galaxy. star, called S4714, has been spotted moving at 8 per cent of speed of light. star has been discovered in an extreme environment at centre of Milky Way galaxy, orbiting gigantic black hole called Sagittarius A*. finding was first posted in Astrophysical Journal on August 11, 2020, study was done in order to understand stars circling close to black hole and ended up discovering fastest star kwn to humankind.

Scientists have reportedly kwn that for while that centre of Milky Way galaxy houses black hole which has been named as Sagittarius A*. research communities around globe have orized that re are stars orbiting close to black hole which have been named as 'Squeezars'. Scientists believe that stars move so close to black hole that y accelerate at incredible force during ir orbit around it. In ir research, explorers have been studying a group of stars lose to black hole, which have all been named starting with letter 'S', indicating how close y are to black hole.

Prior to this research, it was believed that a star called S2 was fastest star, moving at 3% speed of light. Back in 2019, researchers spotted ar star around same black hole moving at 6.7% speed of light. Since n, scientists have continued ir efforts to study fast-moving stars. As of w, five stars named S4714, S4711, S4713 and S4715 have been spotted by researchers.

S2 is one of most researched stars orbiting around black hole. It is a giant blue star which orbits  Sagittarius A*. every 16 years. Back in 2018, S2 h me closest approach to black hole, which allowed researchers to observe a relativity effect kwn as gravitational redshift, which was previously observed only in controlled environment of labs. It will be long before S2's gravitational redshift can be observed again.
