BCCI's throwback to Virat Kohli's first century on his 31st birthday

The BCCI posted a video on twitter to celebrate Indian captain Virat Kohli's 31st birthday. The video was of his first century, which was against Sri Lanka

On the occasion of Virat Kohli's birthday, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video that showed the clips from Kohli's first hundred for India. India's captain turns 31 on Tuesday, November 5.

Maiden century in 2008

Kohli's first century came against Sri Lanka in Kolkata in December 2009 when he scored 107 runs and formed a formidable partnership with Gautam Gambhir to help India push towards the target of 315 that was set by the away side. The youngster's performance was so good that Gambhir, who received the Man of the Match award for his unbeatable knock of 150, said he handed over the award to Kohli.

Kohli is regarded as one of the best batsmen in the world and has earned the reputation of being a great leader after a number of performances that have helped India win series, if not individual matches. Since he has started his international career, he has scored 21036 runs in 393 matches. In Test matches, he has scored 7066 runs in 82 matches, in ODI matches, he has scored 11,520 runs in 239 matches and he has scored 2450 matches in 72 matches. 

Kohli has scored 26 centuries in Test cricket and 43 centuries in ODI cricket. His batting performances have lead to many fans and analysts comparing him to India's greatest batsman, Sachin Tendulkar. The praises do not stop for Kohli, who is currently second on the list of the ICC Rankings of Test batsmen and tops the list for the One Day International (ODI) rankings. Recently Michael Vaughan, replying to a user's question, picked Kohli as the number one batsman for all three formats of the game.
