With less than two weeks to go for the biggest cricket tournament, the World Cup, the buzz is growing day by day. The 10 best teams in the world are competing for the glorious silverware, but is that all that they take home? Of course, not! The International Cricket Council (ICC) will be handing over a record prize money worth 10 million US dollars (approx. Rs 70.31 crore) for the 46-day tournament, with the winners taking home a whopping 4 million USD (approx. Rs 28.12 crore).

The ICC on Friday announced the prize money that will be awarded to the participating teams. The winning team wins 4 million USD, the losing finalist will be given 2 million USD (approx. Rs 14.06 crore).

The semifinalists, who fail to make it to the finals, will win 800,000 dollars each (approx. Rs 5.62 crore). The teams, that do not qualify from the round robin stage, take home 100,000 USD (approx. Rs 70.31 lakh)

Moreover, the winning team of each of the 45 matches of the league stage will be awarded 40,000 USD each (approx. 28.12 lakh).

Earlier in the day, the ICC had also unveiled its anthem ‘Stand By’, created by LORYN and Rudimental.

The ICC Cricket World Cup will be played in England and Wales from May 30-July 14. The host England and South Africa will play in the World Cup curtain-raiser on May 30 at The Oval. Team India kicks off its campaign against South Africa on June 5.
