Australia opener David Warner scored an unbeaten 100 off 56 balls in the first T20I against Sri Lanka at Adelaide and led his side to a massive 134-run win. This knock was even more special as the southpaw hit the ton on his 33rd birthday.
Warner was in a giving mood as he gifted a pair of gloves to a young fan in the stands while walking back to the dressing room. He dropped the gloves in the kid's popcorn bucket. The young fan was ecstatic after receiving this gift as the look on his face says it all. Cricket Australia shared the video and captioned it, "These young fellas won't ever forget their trip to the cricket today. All class from David Warner."
Here is a look at the video:
Warner only became the third Australian player to score international centuries in all the three formats of the game after Shane Watson and Glenn Maxwell. The dashing left-hander hit eight fours and three sixes in his innings.
Speaking in the post-match presentation, Warner said that it meant everything for him to contribute and put the team in a great position. He added that he was happy with the milestone but he was happy that they had got a huge total on the board and it was always tough chasing a big target in Australia. He lauded Sri Lankan bowler Nuwan Pradeep, terming him as a world-class bowler. He also appreciated the Australian crowd for supporting them constantly despite their busy schedules. He added that they thrived on people coming and watching them.
Australia take on Sri Lanka in the second T20I on Wednesday at Brisbane. Mitchell Starc is supposed to miss the match due to his brother's wedding. Sean Abbott or Billy Stanlake are probable contenders for the spot.
