Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in India, particularly in the state of Maharashtra. It marks the birthday of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity of wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune. This vibrant and joyous festival typically spans ten days, with elaborate preparations, including the crafting and installation of Ganesha idols in homes and public places. The festival culminates with the immersion of the idols in rivers or the sea, accompanied by music, dance, and fervent chants of "Ganpati Bappa Morya!"

Indian cricketers celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi

As India's grand festival of Ganesh Chaturthi graces us this year, the cricketing community joins in the celebrations with immense joy. Notable figures such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, and Kuldeep Yadav expressed their festive greetings on their social media platforms, extending warm wishes to people around the world and sharing glimpses of their own celebrations.

The Indian cricket team led by Rohit Sharma recently won the Asia Cup 2023 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Kuldeep Yadav were also part of the squad. This was India's 8th title in the continental tournament, which was held in both Pakistan and Sri Lanka in a "hybrid model." India won the final after defeating Sri Lanka by 10 wickets. Mohammed Siraj shone with the ball as he picked up 6 wickets for just 21 runs, resulting a total collapse of the Sri Lankan batting lineup.

India are now scheduled to lock horns against Australia in a three-match ODI series. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been rested for the first two games of the series. KL Rahul will captain the side in absence of Rohit. The series will serve as a rehearsal for the upcoming ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, scheduled to be held in India from October 5 to November 19. The three-match bilateral will commence on September 22 and the last match will be played on September 27.
