The current form of Gill gives Team India major impetus heading into the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. While he is in an ominous touch, the batter has also seemingly become a victim of his brilliance.

Shubman Gill scores another century
Despite hitting a hundred, taking out all the bowlers for cleaners in the process, Shubman Gill could not satisfy former cricketer Virender Sehwag's expectations of him. According to the ex-opener of Team India, Gill could have contributed more to his innings. Gill, who did his job, got out when there were still 15 overs left in the innings. Sehwag picked up the aspect from the 2nd Ind vs Aus ODI and said he could have kept going for another 9-10 overs and completed a daddy hundred. In his short spell in the international circuit, Gill already has a double ton registered under his name, which apparently reverberates what he is capable of and at the same time brings him into focus whenever he fails to deliver anything of the sort. On Sunday, he had another opportunity to secure a double but got out immediately after getting to the century.

Virender Sehwag says Shubman Gill missed out of a big knock
With age on his side and the kind of form he is in, Virender Sehwag feels, Gill could have gone out to score more. Sehwag says, at 25 Gill might have played 9-10 overs and still would have carried the endurance to come out and field.
“He missed out last time but ensured that he got his hundred today, but I would still say that the form he is in he should have scored 160 or 180. He is now of just 25. Had he scored 200 today then he wouldn't have become tired and could have fielded as well. At 30, he would have found it difficult because he wouldn't have recovered. So it is better to score big runs now,” he said.

“When you are in form and you are scoring runs then don't throw your wicket away. When he got out, there were 18 overs still remaining. Had he played for 9-10 overs more he could have completed his second double hundred. Rohit Sharma scored three double hundreds. He had the opportunity today. A 200 has been scored at this venue by a player named Sehwag, because it is that sort of a track,” he said.
