Mayank Agarwal furious with umpire’s lbw decision

On his way to a century, Agarwal apparently got furious over an umpiring howler from Marais Erasmus. The incident occurred when the opener was batting at 82 during the 47th over of the Indian innings. Agarwal unsuccessfully attempted a sweep against a Mehidy Hasan delivery for a boundary. The ball went onto hit him high on the pad in front of leg stump. The off-spinner appealed for a wicket and Erasmus acknowledged by raising his finger. Much to Agarwal’s surprise, he consulted his batting partner Ajinkya Rahane at the other end and decided to review the decision.

Upon checking replays, the ball was missing the leg stump, prompting the umpire to overturn his decision. Agarwal then resumed his batting and went onto smash his third Test century. Incidentally, all of his three centuries in the format have come in the ongoing season. The batsman also managed to convert two of his centuries into double-tons.

Riding on Agarwal’s herculean 243, India ended Day 2 in a commanding position. The hosts now lead the visitors by 343 runs with 4 wickets still in hand. At 493-6, India will be looking to stretch the lead further tomorrow before letting Bangladesh bat again.
