Netizens tell Shubman Gill to 'keep head down & move on' after his argument with umpire

Fans were not impressed after upcoming star Shubman Gill's argument with the on-field umpire during Punjab's Ranji Trophy match against Delhi on Friday

Shubman Gill, who is current skipper of India A team in limited-overs format has found himself in hot water after his behaviour on field during Ranji Trophy match between Punjab and Delhi on Friday. It so happened that youngster had got his decision overturned by on-field umpire after a heated argument with official which had halted play for around 10 minutes.

Fans' reactions to incident

It so happened that Gill, who was a bright spark in India's record fourth U-19 World Cup triumph in 2018 had refused to leave crease after he was given out caught behind by slow-medium bowler Subodh Bhati post which he started arguing with umpire and  batsman was reinstated after a discussion between on-field officials. However, altercation went in vain as Gill who was batting on 10 runs when incident happened could add only 13 more runs and was eventually dismissed for a 41-ball 23.

What witnesses had to say about incident

" straight umpire (Mohammed Rafi) had adjudged Shubman caught behind and batsman n walked up to umpire and was seen having an argument asking him to reverse his decision. straight umpire n consulted square-leg umpire (Paschim Pathak) and reversed his decision," Delhi team manr Vivek Khurana told PTI.

Asked if re was any plan for a walk-out by visiting side, Khurana absolutely denied any such move. "Our skipper (Nitish) Rana just asked umpires as to why y overturned initial decision. We never walked out. match referee (Ranganathan) came in and play resumed as usual," Khurana added. 

DDCA general secretary Vid Tihara said: " match was halted for seven to eight minutes. re was thing untoward. Our boys felt that Gill was out and that's why y asked umpires why decision was reversed.
