The Indian team, which was always known for its batting, the tenacious capability to play spin and to bamboozle batters with their spin bowling wizardry is currently taking the world by storm with their pace bowling. India's resurgence in the pace bowling department started when Virat Kohli took over as the skipper of the team, especially in Tests. India have one of the greatest pace bowling attacks at their disposal and this also reaped sweet rewards for them in the recently concluded T20 World Cup.
Ricky Ponting Hails Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah is one of the greatest bowler to have ever played the game. Bumrah became the first and the only bowler in the history of the T20 World Cup to win the 'Player of the Tournament' award. Bumrah's biggest strength has been his accuracy. Be it the powerplays or the death overs, Bumrah's accuracy and skills with the ball always impacts the game in a huge way.

'If I watch what Jasprit Bumrah did in the T20 World Cup, the pace is still there, there's nothing that's changed with the accuracy or what he can deliver. The skillset is all the same. He's getting better year on year. The greatest way to always get a real gauge on these players is by asking (other) players. And when you talk to opposition batsmen about him (Bumrah) in particular, it's always, 'No, he's a nightmare! You never know what's going to happen. One's going to swing, one's going to seam, he's going to bowl an in-swinger, he's going to bowl an out-swinger. And the consistency is there.', said Ponting in ICC Review.

Bumrah Exempted From Duleep Trophy 2024
Jasprit Bumrah is India's three-format player and that brings in a huge workload for him. Bumrah has had his fair share of struggles with injuries and hence the BCCI manages his workload. It is absolutely criminal if India lose out on a bowler like Bumrah ahead of a big ICC event or an important bilateral series and hence the premier MI seamer has been exempted from playing the 2024 edition of Duleep Trophy.
