official communication from both teams regarding this postponement res, "This decision results from a player from Proteas team testing positive for COVID-19 after teams’ last round of scheduled testing performed on Thursday ahe of #BetwayODI series". identity of concerned player has t been me public as of w. Apart from expected question of who affected player is, most important question on minds of organizers and fans will be, how?

Considering that both teams should have undergone multiple tests before start of series and should have been following stringent quarantine laws chances of infection should have been infinitesimal. ditionally, it is concerning that an infection has been caught in middle of tour, when players have alrey been quarantining for T20I series that was won 3-0 by England on December 1. It is unclear what chances are, of any or players having contracted virus or chances of detecting it this early.
