Former BCCI Secretary Sanjay Jagdale lashed out at selectors for unsuccessfully experimenting with middle-order of team following India's exit from World Cup after an 18-run loss to New Zealand in semi-finals on July 9.
Jagdale said that selectors should have had a better vision as y failed to find correct combination for middle-order. He said that despite playing Vijay Shankar, Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik consistently before World Cup, selectors did t find a solution to woes of team. Jagdale said that team needed a batsman like Ajinkya Rahane who had a proven track record outside sub-continent.

Throwing his weight behind Rahane, Jagdale said that Rahane had always scored in England while youngster Rishab Pant scored test tons against both England and Australia whereas Vijay Shankar lacked experience of playing in England. He claimed that he had been talking about Rahane since middle-order looked weak. Jagdale also mentioned that Rayudu and Karthik were playing game since 2003 but failed to establish mselves in national side.

middle-order of Men in Blue has been under severe criticism with many former cricketers pointing out at void in number four position. Rishab Pant, who came out to bat at number four during semi-finals and in games before did t quite succeed in filling void. Vijay Shankar, too, did t have a bright tournament as he failed to fire with bat at number four position.
