Siraj opens up on his emotional moment during national anthem at SCG, says 'Missed my dad'

At the end of play on Day 1, Mohammed Siraj opened up on the moment when he was almost in tears and said that it was because he missed his father

Playing his second Test for India, youngster Mohammed Siraj h an emotional moment as Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) resounded with Indian national anm before start of play on Thursday. At  end of play on Day 1, youngster opened up on moment when he was almost in tears and said that it was because he missed his far.

Hyderab-born speedster's far h passed away recently while Siraj was in Australia for limited-overs series. Despite being given option to fly back home, Siraj h chosen to continue to play down under and also went on to make his debut for India in longest format of game at Boxing Day Test.

dressing media on stumps of Day 1, Siraj said, "During national anm, I missed my d. It was a very emotional for me. My far wanted to see me play Test cricket, I wish he was here to see it."

Siraj dismisses Warner

Siraj fared well on Day 1 of crucial Test at Sydney as he bagged prized wicket of David Warner earning an early breakthrough. pacer has bowled 14 overs so far with 3 maidens and has given away 46 runs. Winning toss, Australia opted to bat first and after losing Warner early, debutant Pucovski and Marnus Labuschagne teamed up to anchor innings. duo stitched a 100 partnership before debutant fell to Navdeep Saini at 62. n Steve Smith joined Labuschagne in middle and former skipper has looked in sublime form. Australia ended Day 1 at 166/2.

Who will gain upper hand at SCG?

Australia h drawn first blood in pink-ball Test match at elaide Oval that h ended just inside three days. However, a determined Team India ensured that y have kept four-match series alive by registering a famous win in Boxing Day Test match last week. Both teams will be hoping to secure four-match series by winning SCG Test.
