Here is a look at Kohli's top 10 batting records:

1. Kohli is the quickest to reach 10,000 ODI runs. It took him 205 innings to reach the milestone. He broke the record held by Sachin Tendulkar who had achieved it in 259 innings.

2. It only took 10 years and 68 days for Kohli to achieve 10,000 ODI runs which is the fastest by any batsman to reach the milestone. Rahul Dravid held the record previously who had completed the feat in 10 years and 317 days.

3. The India captain is the first batsman to hit three consecutive hundreds against two different opponents. He did it against Sri Lanka and the West Indies.

4. For 10 years, Ricky Ponting held the record for most ODI runs (1,424) in a calendar year as a captain in 2007. Kohli beat this record in just 26 ODIs as he scored an unreal 1,460 runs at an average of over 75.

5. On 11 December 2016, the India skipper became the only batsman in history to have an average of over 50 in all three formats of the game when his Test crossed 50 against England in Mumbai

6. Kohli also became the first batsman to score 4 double-centuries in 4 consecutive Test series overtaking Rahul Dravid and Don Bradman who did it in three back-to-back series.

7. Kohli is the fastest to reach the landmark of 1000 runs in T20 internationals. He needed just 27 innings to achieve this feat, 2 innings less than next best Aaron Finch.

8. Kohli has the most number of centuries (21) while chasing. He went past Tendulkar’s record of 17 centuries when he slammed a ton against the West Indies in the fifth ODI. Incidentally, Sachin took 232 innings while Virat did it in 102.

9. The India captain became the only Test skipper in history to score three hundreds in his first three innings as captain. He achieved this milestone against Australia when he followed his twin hundreds at the Adelaide Test with a magnificent 140 at Sydney.

10. The Indian skipper scored his sixth double hundred as a captain in December 2017 – the most by any captain. Brian Lara held the record previously who had five such scores in his captaincy stint.
