VVS Laxman was one of India's best and the finest cricketers in the Test format. After all who can forget two of his vital contributions against the then world beaters Australia at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata in 2001 and then at the Adelaide Oval in 2003 where India went on to register famous wins on both occasions. Apart from batting, Laxman was also a great fielder during his playing days as he had a safe pair of hands while fielding at the slips or short leg. It has been seven years since he has bid adieu to cricket but he has not forgotten his role even today.

Laxman takes a screamer, dismisses Aakash Chopra

Post his retirement, VVS Laxman has been having a successful second innings as he is serving as the mentor of IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad and is an established commentator and expert analyst as well. Recently, he had also taken to the field where he stunned one and all. The expert and commentary panel of the official broadcasters of the India-South Africa Test series including the likes of VVS Laxman, Irfan Pathan, Aakash Chopra, Jatin Sapru, Graeme Smith and Nikhil Chopra were involved in a game of gully cricket. In this form of the game, if a fielder manages to catch the ball even after one bounce then the batsman is declared out. Aakash Chopra was the batsman while Nikhil Chopra was the bowler. The former opening batsman touched the ball towards the leg side but VVS Laxman showed great reflexes as he took a blinder after one bounce.

Laxman's famous catch

VVS Laxman's famous moment as a fielder came in 1999 when he took a sharp catch of Wasim Akram at Delhi as a result of which Anil Kumble became the first Indian and the second bowler in the history of the game to take 10 wickets in an innings. Kumble finished with figures of 10/74 as India beat arch-rivals Pakistan by a mammoth 212 runs.
