WATCH | David Warner stuns everyone as he bats right-handed for entire R Ashwin over

David Warner left cricket fans surprised when he switched to a right-handed stance while facing Ravichandran Ashwin in the second one-day international of the three-match series held at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Sunday. This remarkable incident occurred during the 13th over of the Australian innings when they were attempting to chase down a reduced total in the rain-effected match.

David Warner bats left-handed, leaves everyone in splits

David Warner continued his display of skill by achieving his half-century in a mere 38 balls, comprising seven boundaries and one six. Whenever Ashwin came into the attack for India, Warner switched his batting stance to that of a right-hander. Warner bats with his left hand but when he decided to switch his stance, it left everyone in the stadium surprised including his teammates. Australian skipper Pat Cummins, who has rested himself for the second ODI, was seen laughing in the dugout. 

However, Ashwin had the final say as he dismissed Warner LBW for 53 runs off 39 balls when the Australian batsman attempted a reverse-sweep against the off-spinner while batting right-handed. Replays showed that Warner had edged the ball but his failure to appeal the umpire's decision cost him his wicket. 

Ashwin further added to his tally by taking the wickets of Marnus Labuschagne (27) and Josh Inglis (6), which left Australia in a precarious position at 101 for 5 after 14.5 overs.

Indian batsmen run riot at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore

Earlier in the match, a fantastic batting display from Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Suryakumar Yadav helped India post a mammoth total of 399 runs on the board. While Gill (105) and Iyer (104) forged a 200-run partnership and scored a century each, KL Rahul (52) smashed his second consecutive half-century in the series. The second innings of the match was interrupted by rain which saw the target getting reduced to just 317 runs.
