After an unfortunate draw in Manchester, the English cricket team is playing against Australia in the fifth Test of the Ashes 2023 series at the Kennington Oval ground in London. The hosts failed to keep their hopes alive of regaining the coveted 'urn'. The hosts are also in trouble on Day 1 of the fifth Test as they are bundled for a score of 283 runs in the first innings.

Australian cricket team pacer Mitchell Starc was the main strike bowler for the visitors and ended England's first innings with figures of 4/82 in 14.4 overs. Starc bowled a fiery spell and dismissed the likes of Harry Brook, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, and Stuart Broad. During his spell, Mitchell Starc produced a magical delivery to dismiss English cricket team skipper Ben Stokes for a score of three runs off 16 balls. The incident took place on the third ball of the 39th over.

Ben Stokes played a ball across that pitched within the stumps and took away his off stump. The dismissal was so classic that it even left the English captain stunned. 

English skipper loses the toss for the first time in Ashes 2023 series 

If we move to the key highlights of England's first innings, Australian cricket team skipper Pat Cummins won the toss for the first time in the Ashes 2023 series and elected to bowl first. The English batters continued their 'aggressive' intent while batting in the first innings and scored 62 runs in just 12 overs. However, the attacking tactics didn't last long, and the hosts were bundled for a score of 283 runs.

Apart from Mitchell Starc's heroics, Australian bowlers Todd Murphy and Josh Hazlewood finished with two wickets apiece whereas Pat Cummins and Mitchell Marsh picked up 1-1 wicket each.
