World Cup | 'Would like Rohit Sharma to lead India in 2023 World Cup', says former Team India cricketer Wasim Jaffer
After having a dream run, Team India's journey in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 came to an abrupt end in the semi-final against New Zealand at the Old Trafford in Manchester on Wednesday. India who had topped the league table with seven wins from nine games and 15 points suffered a huge setback against the Kiwis who overcame them by 18 runs in an edge-of-the-seat thriller.

After India's loss, talks were about MS Dhoni's future as re were requests pouring in from fans asking 2011 World Cup-winning skipper to reconsider his retirement plans and that he still had a lot of Cricket left in him. While Dhoni was biggest talking point, it seems that even Rohit Sharma, clear star of Indian team in this World Cup, is also being discussed, albeit in a different way.

Despite India's ouster, Sharma is still leading run scorer of ongoing quadrennial event. dynamic opening batsman has scored 648 runs from nine matches which includes five centuries which is most in a single edition of showpiece event. However, he got out very early in semis for 1 as India reeled at 5/3 against Kiwis.

Coming back to Rohit Sharma, veteran Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer believes that Sharma can lead Men In Blue in 2023 World Cup which will be played in India. ex-cricketer took to Twitter and asked wher it was time to hand over white ball captaincy to Mumbai batsman and added that he would like Sharma to lead India in 2023 World Cup.

Even a few netizens were on same p with Jaffer and agreed that Rohit should be appointed as India's new captain.
Apart from his explosive batting, Rohit has also proved his mettle in captaincy as well.

Hitman has led Mumbai Indians to four IPL titles which are most by any team in IPL history. India had also emerged triumphant in Nidhas Trophy and n in Asia Cup last year under Sharma's captaincy.
