James Rodriguez lifts the lid on why he rejected a move to Manchester United in 2013
Two-time UCL champion James Rodriguez revealed that he had an offer to sign for Man United in 2013 but rejected a move to England to join AS Monaco instead.

However, despite plenty of interest from one of biggest clubs in world, James Rodriguez joined Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco in summer of 2013, rejecting a move to Man United.

Following an exceptional World Cup 2014 campaign with Colombia which saw him win Golden Boot, Rodriguez earned a reported €68 million (£63m) move to Real Madrid. However, 28-year-old failed to meet expectations in Spanish capital and was loaned out to Bayern Munich for two seasons until 2019. According to reports from MEN, Real Madrid tried to offer James Rodriguez plus cash to Man United in exchange for Paul Pogba but Red Devils swiftly declined proposal. Rodriguez has made only five starts for Zinedine Zidane's side in LaLiga this season and his contract expires at end of next term.
