Microsoft Global Outage Strikes F1, Affects Mercedes AMG Operation At Hungarian Grand Prix

The Microsoft Global Outage related with its Crowdstrike anti viral update has also managed to affect F1 at Hungary GP as Mercedes Operations were troubled.

The world has been left ravaged by Microsoft's global outage as the Microsoft Windows screens across the globe shut down suddenly displaying ‘blue screens of death’. The outage due to a Crowdstrike update failure has meant flights, banks, and big corporations across the globe have been terribly affected causing a big operational issue and numerous flights to be grounded. 

As it turns out Microsoft's Global Outage has also struck Formula 1 as the Mercedes AMG Petronas team's operations were affected during FP1 at the Hungarian Grand Prix 2024.

Microsoft Outage affects Mercedes at Hungary GP 2024 

The Microsoft Global outage cause by a bug in Crowdstrike update has also managed to strike premier motorsport in Formula 1. 

Lewis Hamilton and George Russel's Mercedes team was also affected at Hungary GP due to Microsoft Outage as the pitwall of Mercedes team was bugged with the issue.

In a photo that is going viral on Social Media, it can be seen that Microsoft's outage caused a bit of trouble to the Mercedes Pitwall.

Despite the difficulty, Mercedes were quickly able to shrug off the issue and the team were able to sort it out during FP1. 

“Minimal if not nil. It created a bit of work, but we are back where we needed to be now,” said Mercedes' Andrew Shovnil on the anti-viral software failute.

Ferrari back on top in FP1

After going through a rough couple of races, Ferrari have once again shown signs of life in the FP1 Hungary as they look like they might have the best pace over the weekend. 

Ferrari dominated the FP1 session as Carlos Sainz topped the timesheet by finishing FP1 at P1. Max Verstappen came in at second and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc at third. 

As for the team affected by Microsoft Global Outage, George Russel finished P4 but Lewis Hamilton only managed to take his Mercedes to P11.
