World Athletics Championships Day 4: Annu Reni reaches finals

Monday, September 30, was Day 4 of the IAAF World Athletics Championships. As Annu Reni set a new National Record, here are Day 4 highlights of the event.

The fourth day of the IAAF World Athletics Championships concluded on Monday, 30 September 2019. The IAAF World Championships is being held at Doha, Qatar. Archana Suseendran, Annu Reni and Anjali Devi were the Indians in action on Day 4. While Suseendran and Anjali Devi did not make it past their heats, Annu Reni reached the finals and set a new javelin national record. Her finals will be on Tuesday, October 1.

IAAF World Athletics Championships: Day 4 Highlights

Annu Reni, for her javelin qualification game for group A, set a new national record with the 62.3-metre throw. Her final and third throw was registered at 60.50 metre. After the Qualification for group B, Annu Reni had secured her place for the finals by ranking fifth after the qualifiers. Top 12 players from both the groups are promoted to the javelin throw finals. Annu Reni's qualifier was at 19:00 IST. Huihui Lyu, who is the Diamond League Champion, registered a spectacular throw of 67.27 metre.

Archana Suseendran was a part of the 200-metre heats at 19:35 IST, and ran on lane four. Suseendran finished last in her heat with the time of 23.65s. She has a PB and SB of 23.18s. Anjali Devi, in her 400-metre heat, finished sixth with 52.33s. She ran on lane number seven. Her event was at 20:50 IST.
