Microsoft's Wireless Display app has added new functionality to let gamers play PC games directly on the Xbox One using a controller. You can even make use of a regular Xbox controller for controlling the remote PC. This way, you can use your Xbox One for playing PC games (Steam or any other titles you want) or for presentations.

Earlier, Microsoft's Wireless Display app was only compatible with Microsoft's Surface Hub and Windows. But the company has just extended the app's compatibility to Xbox One. Therefore, Microsoft's Wireless Display app allows users to wirelessly project their Windows or Android-based devices to their Xbox One.

How to project PC games to Xbox One

Microsoft's Wireless Display app is based on Miracast wireless technology that allows Windows 10 PC users to project screen to Miracast-enabled TVs, projectors and streaming media players. Back in 2015, Xbox One received Miracast streaming support. Here is how you can get started with it.

With your PC and Xbox One ready to project, you need to enable Xbox One for your PC. Both your PC and Xbox One need to be within range.

Step 1: For adding Xbox One to your PC, swipe in from the right edge of the screen then tap Devices.

Step 5: Select Xbox One.

Apart from allowing users to play PC games on Xbox using the Xbox controller as a gamepad or mouse or keyboard, there are several other features to it as well: Wireless Display app lets users share photos and videos with others without having them sync on the cloud.

Users can also project their favourite websites and mirror Android games on TV.

However, it doesn't enable reverse-compatibility for Xbox One to support keyboard and mouse as input devices just yet. But that could change as Microsoft announced keyboard and mouse support for select games on Xbox One last year.
